MeetThe Mongrel
The scruffy companion you didn’t ask for but learned to outsmart
The Mongrel is the shape we give to Parkinson’s — the stubborn, unpredictable presence that barges into your life and refuses to behave. He’s annoying, he’s persistent, and he shows up differently for everyone. But once you understand the mongrel you realise he is much like us and just wants some close attention and he will respond well.

Every Mongrel has a beginning.
This evolution shows how our own ideas, instincts, and lived experiences shape who we become. From raw impulse to steady stride, the Mongrel grows the same way we do — by learning, refining, and choosing to move forward with purpose. This is the journey behind the image you see today, and the journey we invite others to walk with us. Being mindful of diversity and aiming for a site for all of you we experimented with some different colours and images before arriving at the current one. All images have been produced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on a descriptive brief provided for the purpose. AI images can be adapted and updated quickly and easily which works well since we don’t have a graphic artist in the team nor the funds to engage one.
A: The Embryonic Mongrel
The embryonic Mongrel emerged from some quite vivid dreams and found form as a character after providing a description to AI. The cheeky little guy you may have seen before was an instant hit with the readership, though we did soften his facial look to be a grin rather a growl to reflect the concept of him being out there shadowy and elusive but not to be feared.

B: Juvenile Mongrel
The rebellious years where the mongrel struggled to understand his environment as well as where he fitted in and in fact why he didn’t seem to fit in. As you may notice, he felt different to the norm and so dressed differently and had a sightly unemployment look.

C: Adult Mongrel
“Focussed, driven, determined” Moving forwards with purpose. Knows the mission and will drive toward it
